Visbek/Jever/Germany – During the winter months, motorways and highways maintenance departments in Germany are responsible for snow-clearing, gritting and salting. In this way they make a major contribution to traffic safety on public roads. To clear traffic networks from snow and ice and to avoid slippery roads, various spreading materials are employed. These may not be stored in wet conditions because their pourability is then very adversely affected by adherent moisture and can lead to substantial delays in rendering roads safe.
