Clean work for sustainable operations

New technical building for Hamburg’s municipal cleaning service

The Hamburg City Cleaning Service (Stadtreinigung Hamburg, SRH) will soon be moving into a brand new building at its headquarters. From February 2025, seven floors of modular timber hybrid construction with an optimised carbon footprint will be available here. In addition to the office building, a new operating centre was also built – our job was to erect and commission a complete technical building there. “The complex, interlocking components make the project technically challenging,” explained Martin Thon, Project Manager for Medium Voltage Technology. A trip to Brno (Czech Republic) also contributed to the efficient running of the project: “For the acceptance of the MS system, we flew to the manufacturer – thus managing to avoid subsequent, costly conversions.”

The two-storey technical building includes transformer rooms, the district heating station, the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and the control centre for the emergency lighting. In addition to the medium-voltage system including all electrical installations and all systems relating to fire alarms, lighting, cable and pipework systems, our Energietechnik Hamburg team also supplied, installed and commissioned the MSR and data technology to the point.
