Two of Us: René & Marcel – In Profile
The diversity of projects, the daily challenges and the strong team spirit are what define our work.
René Pein, Head of Switchgear Construction, Doberschütz
“The variety of topics is what makes it exciting,” says René. Whether in switchgear construction or working on complex public tenders – challenges are simply part of the job. And they have been for almost 20 years, during which he has built an impressive career at SCHULZ – from agency worker to permanent position as a technician, and today Head of Switchgear Construction in Doberschütz.
“I’ve always had a passion for building blocks,” he tells us with a smile. Yet alongside his technical expertise and broad engineering knowledge, it was above all his thoughtful and respectful approach to colleagues that helped him progress to where he is today.
Staying curious and never standing still – that is important to him. That is why he has recently taken on responsibility for preparing bids for public tenders. “That’s what working here is all about: constantly facing new challenges and discovering the opportunities that come with them.”
He seeks that variety in his private life as well. Whether pursuing his passion for building blocks, attending concerts or holding a season ticket at RB Leipzig, René is always fully committed.
His “secret love”, however, belongs to a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. “Driving a car like that gives you a real sense of freedom. Owning one would be a dream. But dreams are there to be fulfilled – so we’ll see.”
Marcel Buerschaper has been with SCHULZ since 2019. Initially Head of Conveying Technology, he now serves as Authorised Officer and Member of the Management Board, responsible for operational business in the Automotive sector across all locations – from Bremen to Wolfsburg.
“My enthusiasm for technology started early. I used to take everything apart and optimise it – from remote-controlled cars to my Märklin HO railway set,” he recalls. “So the direction was almost predetermined.” After training as an industrial electronics technician at Bosch and studying electrical engineering in Hanover, he moved to Bremen to complete his diploma thesis – and stayed.

Whether Bosch, Continental or Mercedes – the automotive industry has been a consistent thread throughout his career. As has his interest in strategy, structures and organisation.
Orchestrating, in fact, seems to be in his nature. He toured Germany with the “Frank Sinatra Story” and performed live on air from Radio Bremen’s studio. Today, he performs with the Big Band Bremerhaven on a less professional basis, focusing primarily on enjoyment. But as a musician, he knows how crucial teamwork is.
“Whether in an orchestra or in a company, what matters is that everyone knows when it’s their cue and that all are working towards a common goal.” That is also what defines his role at SCHULZ: the diversity of projects, the small daily challenges and the strong team spirit within the company. “The team’s willingness to be there for the customer – and to step beyond their comfort zone – makes the difference.”
