Powering a superfood
Building services engineering for Kölln
Oats are the foundation of many trending food products and are widely regarded as a superfood. To meet growing demand, family-owned company Peter Kölln GmbH & Co. KGaA invested in expanding its production capacity. The result is Plant 6, a state-of-the-art production facility at the company’s long-established site in Elmshorn. The new facility provides more than 5,000 m² of production and logistics space, as well as a fully automated high-bay warehouse. An on-site solar installation and two heat pumps contribute to a sustainable energy supply.
Our scope of work covered three areas of building services engineering: the construction of the transformer substation, the complete electrical installation for both power and low-voltage systems, and the emergency lighting system. While our industrial and energy technology team delivered the transformer substation, our building services team carried out all internal installation works – from support systems and cable routing through to continuous lighting systems and sub-distribution boards.
“Our project timeline was ambitious, as the new facility was scheduled to begin production shortly after completion,” recalls Christian Liebelt, commercial manager of SCHULZ Hamburg. “But projects like this once again demonstrate the importance of well-established interfaces and experienced teamwork.” The high-performance energy infrastructure now provides the foundation for the production of the next generation of popular oat-based products.
Efficient production requires equally efficient infrastructure. That is exactly what we create the technical foundations for.
