Yard logistics: The name says it all for us
SCHULZ 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧® Upgrade
Where hundreds of thousands of tonnes of different raw materials are delivered every year to process feed for a wide variety of livestock, maximum logistical coordination is required. This is exactly where we provide support with customised MES and process control technology.
The compound feed plants Austing in Damme and ForFarmers in Langförden are already benefiting from the automated process control provided by our SCHULZ productionstar®. In addition to convenient batch tracing, the intelligent raw materials planner and an energy management system that tracks and optimises all processes in real time, we have developed new features for our “Yard Logistics” module. “It’s not just about charging. The system starts as early as check-in, goods acceptance and driving the lorries across the factory premises. In other words, the entire yard logistics,” explains Burkhardt Arends, our colleague from Industrial Automation Sales. The customised solution for ForFarmers was defined by our colleague Jan Ole Benecke as Product Owner.
While mobile charging has already been successfully in use for a few years, the new features “terminal” for registering lorry drivers with a web-enabled device and “mobile goods receipt” will be launched for ForFarmers in early 2025.
“After logging into the system with their mobile phone, the drivers can see exactly where they need to go, how much waiting time they have to wait and which charging lane they need to take to the charging station via an app or online – using camera technology, they can then drive up and down the charging bay themselves without having to get out,” added Arends.
The advantages are clear. The SCHULZ productionstar® yard logistics module saves a lot of time, creates more security and ensures greater flexibility. Because “if a lorry arrives in the evening or at night, the goods can still be received,” emphasised Arends in conclusion.
Pure efficiency: The truck drivers can see exactly where they need to go, how long they have to wait and which lane they need to take to get to the charging station on their mobile phones.
